NASCAR returns to Sonoma Raceway the weekend of June 4th and 5th for the 32nd visit to the track. Due to the Covid 19 pandemic closing much of the world last year, the racing series didn't have a race in the Sonoma Valley but are back for 2021 with a weekend of racing with spectators allowed to be in attendance although with limited numbers.
Martin Truex Jr. #19 won the race in 2018 and 2019 in Sonoma. This years race will be his chance to win 3 in a row at Sonoma Raceways 2.52 mile 12 turn road course which would be the first time any driver has done this in Sonoma.
Kyle Larson #42 was the fastest in qualfying and won the pole for the third consecutive year in 2019 and holds the qualfying lap record for NASCAR at Sonoma Raceway.
Kyle Busch #18 came in second by just 1.86 seconds.
