Those of you who live or drive on Country Club Dr. will be pleased to know that this roadway will soon undergo a major improvement project, between Eleanor Dr. and Hinebaugh Creek Bridge. At its meeting of March 23, the city council approved a construction contract in the amount of approximately $1.44 million to completely rehabilitate this .7-mile section of street, providing a smoother, safer, more durable roadway to better serve the community.

This significant construction project will generally involve grinding away the asphalt concrete and repaving, localized repairs, utility adjustments, striping and pavement markings, and additional minor concrete and curb ramp construction. The work is expected to begin in late April, and is anticipated to continue for about two months, taking place Monday through Friday generally from 8 a.m.–5 p.m. The overall schedule is weather-dependent and may be subject to change due to unforeseen circumstances.

If you’d like to learn more about this project, you’re encouraged to attend a virtual community information meeting on Thursday, April 15, 2021 at 5:30 p.m. The Zoom link will be posted at www.rpcity.org/traffic, where you can also get construction updates and other project information (click on the Country Club Drive Project link). Those who live on that portion of Country Club Dr., and other community members who are interested or who may be affected, are encouraged to subscribe to construction update emails by sending a request to engineering@rpcity.org.

During the project, the city and the selected general contractor, Ghilotti Construction, Inc. will make every effort to reduce the impact to residents on Country Club Dr. However, there will be some unavoidable disruption as this major improvement to Country Club Dr. takes place. We ask for your patience and understanding as we work to rehabilitate and enhance this roadway.

Residents and motorists on Country Club Dr. should expect trucks and heavy equipment, noise, dust, vibration, periodic lane closures, detours, temporary periods of “no street parking” and traffic delays. Access to your homes in the project area will be maintained; however, there will be necessary, temporary interruption of street and driveway access during certain parts of the construction process. We’re advising motorists who typically drive on Country Club Dr. to use alternate routes for the duration of this project. Throughout the project period, our team will be communicating with residents to provide updates and information about the project and any temporary parking or access restrictions.

We apologize for the unavoidable inconvenience and disruption that will result from this important roadway improvement project. As the work goes on, we ask residents on Country Club Dr. to keep in mind that rebuilding this street will be of benefit to you and your families, as well as to those who commute or otherwise use this street.

Please plan on attending the virtual community information meeting on April 15. In the meantime, questions or concerns may be directed to the city by emailing engineering@rpcity.org calling 707-588-2232 and visiting www.rpcity.org/traffic.
