Volunteer at SR thrift shop

Railroad Square thrift shop revenues fund scholarships, community grants and Christmas Unlimited. Visit at 10:30 a.m. Nov. 7 for coffee and a tour. Volunteer for holiday distribution (four hours in early Dec.) and/or membership (8 hours/month) Bilingual skills appreciated. Call Patti at 707-322-4325.

 

Drive people to appointments

Help people get to appointments. Volunteer Wheels needs drivers ages 21 with a good driving record. Provided a vehicle, gas, insurance and training; flexible-four-hour shifts are available. Call 707-573-3399 or apply online at volunteernow.org. 

 

Work on maintenance

Catholic Charities needs volunteers to help with maintenance projects at the Palms Inn, permanent housing for veterans. They also need dinner servers at their shelters each night of the week. Contact Emily at volunteer@srcharities.org.

 

Help feed the hungry

F.I.S.H. of Santa Rosa, an all-volunteer organization since 1972, invites you to feed the hungry. Volunteers are needed to drive, receive or distribute food to more than 70,000 people this year. Contact Jeff Burton at 707-538-4059.

 

Help with Kincade fire relief

Volunteer Center of Sonoma County and the Center for Volunteer Nonprofit Leadership is coordinating volunteer Kincade fire relief efforts. Register online at sonoma.cvnl.org. You will receive email notifications with volunteer opportunities, and you can browse the current posted opportunities. To donate money or gift cards, go to cvnl.org/donate, go to cvnl.org/offerdisaster-resources and fill out a donation form-you will be contacted if there is a matching need. You can also drop off gift cards at 153 Stony Circle, Suite 100 in Santa Rosa. 

 

Be a one-on-one tutor for kids

Volunteer as a Schools of hope tutor and make a difference in a child’s life in as little as half hour a week during the school year. Schools of Hope is an early intervention program for children who are struggling with reading y focusing on one-to-one tutoring during school hours. Training is provided. Tutoring has begun and continues through May-sign up for an orientation at unitedwaywinecuntry.org. or call 707-528-4485.
