Lend a hand to disabled people

Assist with therapeutic riding lessons for people with disabilities. Help groom and tack horses, lead very gentle horses and side-walk with participants. Giant Steps Therapeutic Equestrian Center is located near Highway 37 south of Petaluma. Age 14 + (with adult). Call 707-781-9455.

 

Help youths become leaders

Help support youth develop leadership skills and complete community service projects year-round in Sonoma County. Must pass a probation background process. Flexible schedule, training provided. Contact Cesar Basilio a 707-573-3360.

 

Pack up senior meals

The Council on Aging needs volunteers to help pack and package meals (which come with a drink, piece of fruit and a roll) and then run the meal through a sealing machine. Shifts of two to four hours are available Monday-Friday from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Job training for chef preparation is provided. Call 707-525-0143, ext. 121.

 

Clean up Doran Beach

Volunteers are needed Feb. 29 to help Redwood Emre Divers clean up the jetty at Doran Beach. Divers will remove crab traps, fishing line, rope and discarded trash which is then ferried to shore and disposed. Work shifts from 8 a.m. to noon followed by a potluck lunch. Become a nature docent

Share your love of nature and nurture the next generation of naturalists through fourth grade school children in the Learning Laguna program. Docent orientation is 3-5 p.m. Thursday at the Laguna Environmental Center in Santa Rosa. Contact Maggie Hart at 707-527-9277 ext. 100.
