Become a balance coach

Help seniors improve balance, safety, strength and confidence to prevent falls. Lead older adults in with two-hour sessions. One day training on Jan. 15 in Santa Rosa. Bingocize instructors teach one hour for four weeks with online training. Contact Katie Parrish at 707-565-5930.

 

Be a bell ringer and raise money

The Salvation Army needs more bell ringers to help raise funds to support the Salvation Army services and programs. Stand by the kettle, ring the familiar bell and wish shoppers a joyous holiday season. Two or three hour shifts available. Sign up at volunteer.salvationarmy.org. Toy sorters are also needed as helpers at the Christmas distribution Saturday.

 

Volunteers needed for tax prep

Help local low wage working families and individuals receive tax refunds. Training for tax preparers, intake coordinators, interpreters and outreach volunteers is provided. No experience needed. Shifts vary, minimum of two hours per week. Contact Rachel Reynolds at 707-528-4485, ext. 122.

 

Help prep food once a week

The Meals on Wheels kitchen needs help preparing meals for bistros and dining sites. Shifts are once a week t a.m. to noon Monday through Friday for two to four hours. Training provided. Contact Leigh Galten at 707-525-0143.

 

Tutor kids one-on-one

Schools of Hope tutors make a difference in a child’s life in as little as a half hour per week. Schools of Hope aids children who are struggling with reading by focusing on one-to-one tutoring during school hours. Training provided. call 707-528-4485, ext. 103.

 

Lend a hand wrapping gifts

Senior Advocacy Services needs volunteer elves to help wrap gifts between 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday at 2424 Magowan Dr., Santa Rosa. 707-526-4108.
