Jackie Elward and her daughters Keisha and Aliyah showed their support at the car caravan protest for safe schools for students and staff led by the Coalition of all 36 Sonoma County CTA Unions in the parking lot of the Sonoma County Office of Education. This was in response to Sonoma County Superintendent Steve Herrington’s announcement that Sonoma County schools would follow the same model Marin County announced June 18. The model would allow 25 students per class with 4 feet of separation five days a week. In addition to disagreeing with the reduced separation, teachers were protesting their lack of representation in the decision-making process, the results of which will directly have an impact on both their lives and those of their students.
