The Rohnert Park-Cotati Friends of the Library Summer 2018 Wed., Oct. 3, 5 -7 p.m.—Members only ($5 membership available at the door) Thurs., Oct. 4, 10 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. Fri., Oct. 5, 10 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. Sat. Oct. 6 (half price day / bag of books $5), 10 a.m. - 3 p.m.


Adult programs

Tech Classes: Computers Beyond the Basics. Mon., Oct. 1, 6:30 - 8 p.m.

Clases de Technología: Computadoras más allá de lo básico. Lunes, 1 de octubre, 6:30 - 8 p.m. Review the essential skills to operate a computer. Practice saving files, search and pin programs, investigate and change your computer’s settings, and discover ways to keep your computer running smoothly. Empieza revisando los conocimientos básicos para operar una computadora. Practique el guardar archivos, buscar y fijar programas, investigar y cambiar las configuraciones de su computadora y descubra formas de mantener su computadora funcionando correctamente.


Virtual Reality Lab (ages 14 and up). Sat., Oct. 6, 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. 30-minute sessions to experience an Oculus Rift headset. Sign up online for a half-hour appointment or call the library. Waiver required.

Book Discussion Group:  Tues., Oct. 16, 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

Children’s and teen Programs

Maker Studio: Hour of Code (ages 9-12). Fri., Sept. 28, 4:30 - 5:40 p.m. A fun and simple introduction to computer science! Register online, at the branch, or call us.

Codecademy (grades 7-12).  Part I Tues., Oct. 9, 3-5 pm & Part II, Tues., Oct. 23, 3-5 p.m. Learn the basics of coding through step-by-step, self-paced projects. Assistance will be provided by instructor.

Commitment to a two-session program is required. Sign up in person at Library adult reference desk or call (707) 584-9121. A signed permission slip from parent is required.

Maker Studio: Pixar in a Box (grades 4-7). Fri., Oct. 5, 4 - 5:30 p.m. Ever wonder how your favorite animated films are made? Learn from the experts and use your new skills to create your own animated flip book. Registration is required. Walk-ins will still be welcome if there is space to accommodate. 

Weekly Story times—new days and times!  Preschool Story times (ages 3-6) Fri. at 10:30 a.m. Toddler Story times (ages 18 months-3 years), Tues. at 10:30 a.m. Baby times (ages 0-18 months), Thurs. at 10:30 a.m.  

Homework Help on Tues., 3:30 - 5:30 p.m. Homework assistance is provided for grades K-12, for all subjects, on a drop-in basis, Tuesdays 3:30 - 5:30 p.m. while school is in session. 

Read to a Dog – Wed., 3:30 - 4:30 p.m., all year round.
