Quarantine and safety procedures at the library

September 4, 2020

Since Sonoma County Library began to accept returns, we have followed strict quarantine and safety procedures to keep our staff and the public safe, and materials clean for the next patron. As a result, our book drops fill and close quickly and items are not checked in right away.

In accordance with REopening Archives, Libraries, and Museums (REALM) findings, returned materials are quarantined for a minimum of four days prior to being made available to other borrowers. Some material types require a longer quarantine period. We will continue to adjust our quarantine procedures as new findings are released from REALM.

Due to the quarantine, it may take a week or more for items to be checked in and cleared from your library account. No overdue fines are charged. You may continue to place holds for items through the library’s catalog.

Your materials will take longer than normal to arrive during this time. We appreciate your patience as we focus on safety and reducing the risk of spreading COVID-19 in our community. Learn more about curbside pickup and returns here.

Thank you for being a member of the Sonoma County Library community. Visit our online library for thousands of films, TV shows, eBooks, databases, magazines, classes, and more.
