Considering it’s pride month, it’d be interesting to see what some individuals do to celebrate and support the LGBTQ+ community. Today you can expect to get a glimpse at the pride supporters and community supporting themselves and each other. Whether that’s during pride month, or just as an everyday thing.
Recently a mural had been hand painted by a tattoo artist in Wrigleyville, Chicago. It depicts the picture of two women holding hands, the text on their shirts reads out, “Better Together.” The tattoo artist called Zeye One explained, “The mural was an ode to the city’s diversity and inspired by those who come together to celebrate their differences.” From now until the end of June, the mural will stay on Clerk Street where pedestrians have the ability to write positive messages of their choice on the light blue surface under the main piece. From there, it will be donated to the LGBTQ+ community center called Center of Halsted.
In Greater Cincinnati, they will be holding more than just one event. Pride Drag shows, Pride Film Series, lots of Pride block parties, and much more will have or will take place in the month of June. The Pride Community will luck out this month with a large schedule of fun planned events and parades rejoicing each other as one. Though many events will be delayed due to Covid-19, they will take place at some point, if not in the month of June.
A reader has shared with me a graphic that he calls, “Unity Stars,” and likes to think it can mean many things, including one’s support for the LGBTQ+ community. The graphic depicts 3-D stars chained to one another, each set contains their own color including: pink, lime green, dark green, blue and yellow. The background is a teal color. Thank you for sharing Rod!
With all that’s to come this month of June, the Pride Community has a lot to attend to and I look forward to seeing what else may pop up during this month. If you are indecisive on how to celebrate Pride Month, go to your local store and pick out some pride wear! Would you like to share something with me? Possibly an article idea? I’d love to hear it!
