Johnny Cash at 6th playhouse

February 26, 2021

6th Street Playhouse is proud to present My Name is Johnny Cash, the world premiere of an original show written by Steve Lasiter and Jennifer Barnaba.

The production features Steve Lasiter in the title role. 6th Street patrons may recall seeing Steve in this role in our smash hit Million Dollar Quartet. This in-depth show about Cash is a first-person retelling of the arc of Johnny’s life- told through actual quotes from Cash and songs that coincide with the story.

Steve Lasiter plays Johnny from youth to his older years, and Jennifer speaks as multiple characters including Johnny’s mother, the narrator, June Carter, and others. Jared Sakren directs this multi-camera shoot, and the resulting performance will open at 7 p.m. on March 12 and will be On-Demand online March 13 - April 11.

Steve, on guitar, and Jennifer on piano, are joined by Max Rosenthal on drums, Jake Turner on guitar, Lisa Doyle on violin, and Shovanny Delgado Carillo on bass.

Tickets range in price from $18-$60 and are available at https://6thstreetplayhouse.com/the-johnny-cash-story/.
