The Sitting Room is looking forward to seeing you at their Sitting Room Book Group on Wednesday January 20 at 2 p.m. The Zoom room will be open at 1:45 p.m. Rosemary Manchester, who recommended the book, will be leading the discussion of Rebecca West's autobiographical The Fountain Overflows.
"A real Dickensian Christmas pudding of a book-full of incident, full of family delights, full of parties and partings, strange bits of London, the lobby of the House of Commons, a classic murder with portraits of the murderer, the murdered and a couple of innocent bystanders, bill collectors, kitchen fires, good food and a considerable quota of ghosts. West’s is a world that is a delight to enter and to live in, warm and vital, and constantly entertaining." —Elizabeth Janeway, The New York Times Book Review (You may not agree.)
Rosemary would love it if you came ready to discuss your favorite or least favorite character. And having a particular passage which intrigued, delighted or befuddled you is always a great addition for the discussion.
Our selection for February will be Lissa Evans’ Old Baggage which was recommended by Linda Lampson.
As always, do bring your suggestions for further books to read.
Please RSVP to firstname.lastname@example.org and request the Zoom link.
