Our Community Services Department is smitten to celebrate the 2nd annual I Heart Rohnert Park event. This year’s event will feature live entertainment, activities, food and more. Enjoy spinning the wheel of prizes at the city’s General Plan booth! Join us Sun., Feb. 10 from 2 - 5 p.m. at the Community Center located at 5401 Snyder Lane. For more information, visit www.rpcity.org/secondsunday or call 588-3456.

 Who doesn’t love kudos?

Do you want to send someone a special shout out for making a difference in our community? If the answer is yes, then the city council would like to hear from you. The council enjoys honoring people and organizations who have contributed to the improvement or welfare of the city.

Requests for recognition are available at www.rpcity.org/recognition. For additional information email the city manager’s office at admin@rpcity.org or call 588-2226.

Watch out: Potholes

During the winter months potholes can become road hazards. They form when moisture seeps into cracks in the street. The City’s Public Works staff works to fill potholes promptly. Badly damaged sections of the street are cut out, removed, and repaved to prevent further deterioration.

The City’s Reach Rohnert Park online reporting tool is an easy way for residents to report potholes (or other common issues like problems with street lights, debris, or tree maintenance). Reach Rohnert Park is available 24/7 to let us know of problems. Once you submit a request, you can track the progress on the issue. Find Reach Rohnert Park online at www.rpcity.org/reach.

If you’re on the go, Reach Rohnert Park has a mobile app available in the app store search called “GORequest.” Don’t remember the name of the street you encountered an issue? That’s okay because the app includes location mapping.

Although our Public Works team can’t fix the heavy storms, they look forward to receiving your pothole (and other) Reach Rohnert Park service requests.

Tax season

Tax season is underway and we want to help you stay ahead of the last-minute tax prep stress. The Rohnert Park Senior Center hosts the AARP Foundation Tax-Aide program for low-to moderate-income taxpayers (with a focus on serving our senior residents) and best of all – it’s free! The assistance is available beginning Feb. 1 and continues each Fri. through April 13.  No appointment is required, it’s helpful and hours are from 8:30 a.m.–1:00 p.m. For complete details on what to bring, or to obtain additional information about the service, contact the AARP Foundation Tax Aide at 585-6788.

Another great tax assistance resource for low to moderately low-income residents is housed at the Rohnert Park Health Center at 5900 State Farm Dr. The ‘Earn It! Keep It! Save It!’ Program sponsored by the United Way provides free tax preparation assistance, in addition to helping people understand their financial situation and start saving. Call 800-325-9604 to schedule your appointment.
