Assist families with taxes
Help local low wage working families and individuals receive tax refunds. Training for tax preparers, intake coordinators, interpreters and outreach volunteers is provided. No experience needed. Shifts vary, minimum of two hours per week. Call Rachel at 707-528-4485 ext. 122.
Become a Laguna docent
Expand and share your love of nature and nurture the next generation of naturalists. Docents lead groups of second through fourth graders in the “Learning Laguna” program. Orientation for docent training is 10 a.m. to noon Jan.27 at the Laguna Environmental Center in Santa Rosa. Sign up at lagunafoundation.org.
Be a senior peer counselor
West County Community Services is looking for volunteers to become senior peer counselors. A 35-hour training gives counselors the tools to help fellow seniors manage the stresses of aging with emotional balance. Training and supervision provided in Santa Rosa. Supervise children at play
Help children explore, build, create and play in 50 tons of snow on Jan. 18-20. Volunteers will supervise children at play, answer questions, manage the toboggan runs (includes bending, squatting, shoveling snow) and more. Mornings or afternoon shifts available. Sign up at cmosc.org/volunteer.
