|Deadline to file for RP council Aug. 8
The deadline to file papers to run for one of the two seats up for grabs on the Rohnert Park City Council is Friday, Aug. 8, at 5 p.m.
Incumbents Amy Ahonatu and Pam Stafford are up for reelection this year and both have filed their paperwork. In order to qualify for the Nov. 4 ballot, a potential candidate must fill out the following forms: a nomination paper with at least 20 signatures of registered Rohnert Park voters (30 are recommended in case some are rejected); a completed declaration of candidacy; a completed ballot designation worksheet; candidate statement of qualifications and statement of withdrawal; a code of fair campaign practices and biographical information.
There are some additional forms required by the Fair Political Practices Commission, including a candidate intention statement, a statement of organization recipient, a statement of economic interests, a recipient committee campaign statement and a 24-hour contribution report. Rohnert Park City Clerk JoAnne Buergler recommends any potential candidate make an appointment with her so she can walk a candidate through the filing process to make it easier.
