|‘Oliver’ comes to Spreckels Aug. 15
Lionel Bart's “Oliver!,” the musical version of Charles Dickens’ classic “Oliver Twist,” will begin its two-week run at the Codding Theater in the Spreckels Performing Arts Center Aug. 15 and ends on Aug. 31.
“Oliver!” tells the tale of a misguided orphan boy in 19th century London, featuring some rousing melodies. This Spreckels Theatre Company main stage production features a new, creative interpretation blending the world of the actor with this classic story set in Victorian London.
The cast includes Kelly Brandeburg, Harry J. Duke, Zachary Hasbany, Tim Setzer, Peter Warden and students of Spreckels Theatre Company's “Youth In Arts” program, an intensive theater arts program for aspiring young actors.
Gene Abravaya is directing the play, with Janis Wilson providing musical direction and the choreography done by Michella Snider. Also, Pamela Enz is the costume designer, and the set is designed by Eddy Hansen and Elizabeth Bazzano.
Show times are 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays; 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 28; 2 p.m. Saturdays (Aug. 23 and 30); and 2 p.m. Sundays (Aug. 17, 24 and 31).
Tickets are $26 general admission, $24 for seniors/youth and $22 for students. Tickets can also be purchased by calling the Spreckels box office at (707) 588-3400. Box office hours are Tuesday-Saturday, noon-5 p.m. and one hour before show time.
