After nearly nine months sitting quiet, dark and inactive, the doors of the familiar Cotati corner building –formally the home of the longtime café Tama Rama – have opened again, welcoming all to the new IScream Café.

The newest addition to the downtown Cotati family officially opened last Monday, just in time for the heating-up days of summer.

An impressive first-day crowd bustled in through the doors, looking to support the new local business by buying some lunch or maybe a quick snack or specialty drink. According to new owners Chris Beck and Beverly Govi, though many came in for a lunch of gourmet hotdogs, the ice cream seemed pretty hard to resist, as most ate their share before receiving their food.

Don’t let the title fool you, there’s a little bit of everything at IScream Café, from hot dogs, salads, Panini-style melts, soups and specialty drinks.

There’s also a variety of baked treats, like gooey brownies, cookies the size of your face and chocolate drizzled waffles. And then there’s the ice cream, let’s not forget about the ice cream.

All of IScream’s ice cream are made with all natural ingredients and lack any added sugars or food coloring. Each flavor is handmade and hand packed and flavors are due to rotate each month. This month’s flavors include unique and tasty choices of salted caramel, stout beer and pretzel, spicy chocolate, blueberry cheesecake, bubblegum and watermelon. (There is, of course, the traditional vanilla and chocolate as well). This month’s featured flavor is maple bacon.

Currently, IScream has two organic ice cream flavors and they are hoping to bring in more in the near future. All meals, like any of the 12 specialty hot dogs, are prepared fresh in the store upon order. You can stop by the store now any day of the week to try some of their foods and ice cream flavors or visit them on Facebook to stay updated on those current flavors.
