Citizens of Cotati have a chance to put Mayor John Dell’Osso on the hot seat Wednesday, July 2, when he hosts An Evening With the Mayor at Redwood Café in downtown Cotati.

The event is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. This will be the second time since being named mayor that Dell’Osso will face the public.

“I think it’s a much less formal situation than a city council meeting,” Dell’Osso said. “When I did the first one, I actually sat down with everybody and I plan on doing that again. The format seemed to work out well. But it depends on the turnout and the kind of questions people have.”

This format was started by Mark Landman when he was mayor in 2013. He faced the public on three separate occasions, including a joint meeting with Rep. Mike Thompson.

Dell’Osso said he’s looking forward to the informal setting because people seem to be more at ease.

“It’s a chance to interact with the mayor and the city staff that will be there,” Dell’Osso said. “I think it’s a great opportunity to get to know people and for them to get to know city people.”

Dell’Osso said if there is a question he’s unable to answer, he’d be more than happy to take down the number of the questioner and contact him or her with an answer at a later date.

“I don’t know what to expect…you never know what to expect,” he said. “Some questions may not even be related to Cotati. All I can do is be prepared and open.”
