County fair to offer up fun in dirt

In search of wholesome, family fun at the Sonoma County Fair? Just look to where the dust is flying.

Then head to Chris Beck Arena where this year’s “Peace, Love & Fair” brings ample opportunity for boys and girls of all ages to play in the dirt.

There will be professional cowboys tearing it up with bulls and broncs; drivers with nerves of steel crashing and smashing; gigantic…okay, “monster” trucks that are too big and bad to be real—but they are; barrel racing cowgirls and their ultrafast horses; and a full schedule of activities showing first-hand how farming kids like to have fun.

This year’s featured events in Chris Beck Arena include PRCA Rodeo on July 26, Farmer’s Day on July 27, Barrel Racing on August 1, the ever popular Destruction Derby on Aug. 2, and two nights of Monster Truck madness to close out the Fair season on Aug. 9-10.

Professional cowboys will compete for cash prizes and thrill the audience with bull riding, bronc riding, steer wrestling, team roping, tie-down roping and bareback riding during the PRCA Rodeo on July 26. This family friendly event will kick off with a visit from Miss Wine Country Rodeo 2014, Jacki Strand. The rodeo begins at 7:30 p.m.
