|NorCal Golf 4 Charity tees off June 2 in Napa
Representatives from Marriott Hotels and Sodexo Food Services announced that the 20th annual NorCal Golf 4 Charity Event would take place on June 2. The tournament, too popular for one golf course to hold, will once again be played at the two courses that make up the Chardonnay Golf Club in Napa County.
The tournament benefits local charities and has raised more than $1.5 million since its inception. This year, benefactors will include UC Davis Children’s Hospital, Children’s Hospital Research Center Oakland, Second Harvest Food Bank and Stop Hunger. Last year, more than $200,000 was donated to charities and the hope is to have a record setting donation made this year.
Tim Howard, general manager of the Courtyard Marriott hotel in Novato, is co-chair of this year’s event. Howard emphasized that players need to sign up early as this event sells out.
“Our maximum number of golfers is 288 and we usually sell out. That speaks to the fun, prizes and surprises in store for all the participants,” Howard said.
Art Taketa, also co-chair of the tournament, and regional vice-president for Sodexo, encouraged non-golfers to join the festivities at the dinner following the tournament.
“We have an outstanding menu planned and the chef’s at Chardonnay always have a something extra in store for us,” Taketa said. “Bidders can secure some unusual purchases at great values at the silent and live auctions too.”
This year prizes available at the auction include trips to Costa Rica, Paris, London, Waikiki, New York, Malaysia and more. There are also 50 raffle prizes available.
Taketa and Howard both spoke about how proud their organizations are to be founding host sponsors and to have been part of this event for 20 years.
“The NorCal Golf 4 Charity Event is something all of our employees at Marriott and Sodexo are proud to be associated with,” said Howard.
Reservations to play in the tournament or to attend the post tournament auction and dinner can be made online at www.norcalgolf4charity.com. Golf and dinner is $325 per person and to attend just the dinner the cost is $35 per person.
