|County offers pet adoption special through June 21
With the school year ending, weather warming and flowers blooming, spring can be the best time to start something new. For many, spring is the ideal season to bring a new pet into the home. If that’s true for you, Sonoma County Animal Services encourages you to make it a shelter pet and invites you to take advantage of the “Spring Fling” adoption special.
From now through June 21, Animal Services is offering zero-fee adoptions for “long-timers,” which is any animal that has been available for adoption at the shelter for more than a month.
“Many wonderful animals have been with us for several months, and we’d like nothing more than to send them off to loving homes,” says Animal Services Director Brigid Wasson. “It’s common for senior animals and dogs of certain breeds to stay at the shelter for extended periods. We hope this promotion will help remind the community that every animal deserves a happy life in a forever home.”
For all other animals over the age of four months, half price adoption fees will apply during the Spring Fling adoption special. All dogs, cats, and rabbits are spayed or neutered prior to adoption; cats and dogs are also micro-chipped, vaccinated and provided with an engraved identification tag.
A $25 license fee will be collected at the time of adoption for all dogs whose adopters live in Santa Rosa, Windsor and unincorporated Sonoma County. Licenses are required by law for all dogs over four months of age in Sonoma County.
The shelter is located at 1246 Century Court in Santa Rosa (off Airport Boulevard) and is open Tuesday through Saturday from noon-5:30 p.m.
