|RC girls rebound, win two
Rancho Cotate High’s girls’ softball team proved its powers of recuperation are strong.
After dropping a wrenching 1-0 decision to co-North Bay League leader Maria Carrillo on April 24, the Cougars rebounded with two consecutive victories.
The Cougars are 15-3-1 overall and 7-3 in the NBL, one game behind leaders Santa Rosa and Carrillo.
The Cougars on Tuesday, May 6, journey to Petaluma to face Casa Grande for a 4 p.m. encounter.

The Cougars stayed in NBL contention by pounding out 15 hits and capitalizing on three Montgomery errors to win going away. Taylor Del Santo went 3 for 4 at the plate, while Janaea Mason went 2 for 4 with a home run.
Kristine Riccosa, Katie Rohrer and Jordan Ladner all had two hits for the Cougars.

Proving softball can be a game of inches, the Cougars barely missed on a chance to tie the game late, but Rohnert’s blast hit the top of the fence and landed for a double instead of a tying home run.
The Cougars could muster only four hits, including doubles by Alexis Gumanday and Rohrer off Pumas starting pitcher Robin Johnson, who also struck out eight.
