Shortage of lifeguards in RP prompts added class
Bookmark and Share

The City of Rohnert Park’s shortage of lifeguards at the city pools has prompted it to offer an additional course in an effort to certify more lifeguards.

Lifeguards must pass a 38-hour course in order to be fully certified by the State of California to lifeguard at a public facility. Rohnert Park is offering a second Lifeguard Training Course Monday through Friday evenings from May 12-23. The course includes training in water rescues, CPR and First Aid. The cost of the course is $215 and successful participants will be fully certified to work in any public pool in California.

As an added incentive, any participant who successfully completes the course and is hired by Rohnert Park will have their entire course registration fee refunded. Completing the course, however, does not guarantee a job with the City of Rohnert Park.
