|County fair to award agriculture scholarships
The Sonoma County Fair will award more than $7,500 in scholarship funds to deserving students currently pursuing agricultural studies. Eligibility requires interested students be high school graduatees planning to attend the Santa Rosa Junior College or a four-year university and reside in Sonoma or Marin County. The awarded scholarship amounts will range between $250 and $2,500 per application.
All completed scholarship applications are due by 5 p.m., Friday, May 30, at the Sonoma County Fair Entry Office. Applications will be pre-screened and judged on neatness and completeness.
The top finalists from the four-year university applicants will be contacted by phone for an in-person oral interview.
The oral interviews will be held on Tuesday, June 24, starting at 8:30 a.m. at the Sonoma County Fair Administrative Office.
“The Fair board and staff are proud of the scholarships offered in conjunction with the annual Fair and Hall of Flowers exhibit,” said fair manager Tawny Tesconi. “We are focused on providing opportunities for youth interested in agriculture, and this is one more way to support our mission.”
