An explosive start to Rancho Cotate’s April 11 home game against Santa Rosa paved the way to a 7-4 North Bay League victory and also snapped a four-game losing streak by the Cougars.

Alex Latourelle, Casey Gray, Brian Wall and Gunner Mefferd all had key hits in a four-run second inning as Rancho Cotate extended its lead to 6-0.

The Cougars got a solid pitching effort from starter Nate Crouse, who allowed six hits. Gray was 2 for 3 at the plate with one RBI and he scored twice.

Steve Endy provided what little offense the Cougars could produce with the team’s only two hits of the game.

The loss dropped the Cougars to 3-13 overall and 2-4 in the NBL.

Rancho Cotate travels to Ukiah to face the Wildcats today for a 4 p.m. game.
