Someone from Cotati is one step closer to meeting Pat Sajak and Vanna White.

Cotati’s own Kathy Quattrin is on her way to the second and last round of tryouts to appear on America’s No. 1 game show, “Wheel of Fortune.” A contestant during the preliminary auditions at the Graton Resort & Casino last month, she has been invited back to the Sir Francis Drake Hotel in San Francisco on Thursday, April 10, among hundreds of others for her 15 minutes of fame.

“My co-worker, Sara, told me about it and asked me to go with her,” she says of the auditions last month. “I was one who got called on stage, and sure enough I just got called back!”

They don’t provide you with much information in the invitation, she says, but Quattrin has been watching recordings of the show and even downloaded an app for her phone in order to get her practice in.

Contestants invited to San Francisco will play a series of simulated rounds of Wheel of Fortune, much like the rounds in the aired show, and they are required to take a 5-minute word test. If you do well, they will ask you to stay for more challenging series.

“They do warn you it is hard to get on the show but it was just fun to get called back,” she says. “I had just left my house for a walk and I thought I’d check my phone before I left. The email came in, and I couldn’t believe it!”
