Stellar pitching by Noah Rogerson was enough to propel Rancho Cotate’s varsity boys’ baseball team into the win column for the first time this season.

Rogerson, a junior southpaw, pitched a complete game as the Cougars beat Los Lomas 4-2 on March 14.

Rogerson allowed three hits, struck out nine and walked one. He also helped his own cause by going 1 for 2 at the plate and scored a run.

Mike Miller, on 2 for 3 hitting, and Gunner Mefferd added two and one RBI, respectively.

Rancho Cotate, 1-6, spent the earlier part of this week in Southern California competing in the Cougar Classic. Their opponents included Rancho Cucamonga, Pasadena, Hesperia’s Oak Hills and Chaffey of Ontario. When they return from the road, the Cougars will open play in the North Bay League on March 26 when they host the Ukiah Wildcats for a 4 p.m. encounter.
