Rancho Cotate High’s boys wrestling team will send four to this weekend’s North Coast Section Wrestling Championships at Newark Memorial High.

Only Isaiah Barragan will head into the NCS tournament as champion, having won the 170-pound division at the North Bay League Wrestling Championships in Windsor on Feb. 22.

Barragan will be joined in Newark by teammates Brian Guerrero at 120 pounds, Erick Arango at 113 and Colton Oba at 182. Guerrero finished second in the NBL, while Arango and Oba both placed third. The top three finishers in each weight class advance to the NCS meet. The top three at NCS will advance to the California Interscholastic Federation State Championships in Bakersfield on March 7-8.

Barragan successfully shot a double-leg takedown with 9 seconds remaining in his title match to knock off Windsor’s Joe Valdez.
