Viking Cruises to sponsor SR Symphony

Viking Cruises is underwriting the Santa Rosa Symphony’s 2014-2015 Classical Concert Series with a pledge of $125,000.

The Viking Cruises Classical Concert Series is the first named sponsorship for these concerts in the Symphony’s 86-year history; the series of 28 performances begins Oct. 11-13 in Weill Hall at Sonoma State University’s Green Music Center, where the Santa Rosa Symphony is resident orchestra.

The Santa Rosa Symphony is the third oldest in California, and the largest regional symphony north of Los Angeles. Viking Cruises has sponsored PBS “Masterpiece” since 2011 and is perhaps best known currently for its sponsorship of the popular Emmy award-winning “Downton Abbey.”

“This exciting business sponsorship with Viking Cruises is an important acknowledgement by a world-class corporation that the Santa Rosa Symphony merits international attention, said Jamei Haswell, chair of the SRS Board of Directors Development Committee.

“We look forward to a ‘voyage of discovery' and a long-term partnership with Viking Cruises.”
