The Rohnert Park Community Services Department is offering a lifeguarding course evenings and weekends beginning March 15.  This course provides all the necessary certifications to lifeguard in the state of California, including lifesaving techniques, First Aid and CPR.

Participants must be 15 years of age and be able to swim 300 yards, perform a standing front dive and swim under water 20 feet, tread water for one minute without hands and perform a surface dive and retrieve a 10-pound brick from the bottom.  All students will be tested the first day of class.

The course fee is $190 for residents and $215 for non-residents. However, if a candidate successfully passes the course and is hired by the City of Rohnert Park, the registration fee will be refunded. For more information, call (707) 588-3456 or go to rpcommunityservices.org.
