|Guerrero shines for RC girls
Even though Rancho Cotate High’s girls’ basketball team was unable to stay with Casa Grande of Petaluma in a 68-37 loss on Feb. 7, it was almost impossible to overlook a stellar performance by senior Nicole Guerrero.
Guerrero’s team-high 24 points represented nearly two-thirds of the Cougars’ scoring output. And 18 of her points came on six 3-point baskets.

The host Cougars were able to keep the game competitive against the Wildcats, but they just couldn’t put together enough of a run to overtake Ukiah on Tuesday night.
Ukiah never outscored Rancho Cotate by more than three points in any of the four quarters of the contest.
Guerrero again was the top scorer for the Cougars with 17 points, followed by freshman Reilani Peleti with 14.
The Cougars are now 7-18 overall and 0-12 in the North Bay League.
Rancho Cotate wraps up the season Thursday at home against Maria Carrillo. The game tips off at 7:30 p.m., and the graduating seniors will be honored before the game.
