|SRJC to host renewable strategies conference today
The 2014 Sonoma Renewable Strategies Conference will take place at Santa Rosa Junior College today, Jan. 24, with the main topic being “Agriculture, Training, Finance and Policy.”
The event is co-sponsored by Rebuild the United States and SRJC Associated Students. The conference will be opened at 8:30 a.m. by SRJC President Dr. Frank Chong, California Assembly member Marc Levine, and Stas Margaronis, program director for Rebuild the United States.
Among the speakers at the conference will be U.S. Congressman Jared Huffman, other Sonoma County elected officials, and representatives of Sonoma Clean Power, Marin Clean Energy, North Coast Builders Exchange, Sonoma County Winegrape Commission, Sonoma County Office of Education, Dolce Winery, Sonoma County Agriculture Commission, Solmetric, Applied Building Science, Petaluma High-School, Job Link, Sonoma County Energy Independence Program and SRJC.
The topics range from net energy metering and feed-in-tariffs to renewable energy education, renewable agricultural strategies and renewable success stories. The lunch break will offer a chance to see an electric car presentation sponsored by the SRJC Associated Students.
The conference starts at 8:30 a.m. (registration opens at 7:30 a.m.) and will conclude at 2:30 p.m. The event will be held in the Student Activities Center of Bertolini Hall on the Santa Rosa campus. The campus is at 1501 Mendocino Avenue in Santa Rosa. There is a $4 fee for on-campus parking.
