Wes Winter, executive director of the Family Justice Center Sonoma County (“FJCSC”) announced that the Community Foundation Sonoma County has presented FJCSC with a $25,000 matching grant to assist in its efforts to protect and assist victims of family violence, provided it is able to match that amount with its own $25,000 in contributions.

“We are grateful to have received this very generous grant from the Community Foundation,” Winter said. “Now the real fundraising work begins to obtain donations in that amount before May 13, so that we can secure it for the sake of victims in Sonoma County.”

FJCSC is a “one-stop” port of entry for victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, elder abuse and child abuse.  Working with its many partners, this grant will provide the FJCSC with the financial support to better assist survivors.  The grant will aid in the strengthening of effective responses to violence against victims.

Data continues to show that violence against women, family violence and intimate partner violence remains prevalent in Sonoma County. The District Attorney’s Office, law enforcement, FJCSC and other non-profit partners are working to hold offenders accountable and help survivors heal in the aftermath of these crimes.

If you would like to assist these victims to become survivors, your contribution of any amount will be accepted.  Contact Winter at (707) 565-8257.
