The Santa Rosa Junior College (SRJC) Foundation’s Women in Philanthropy invites the public to clean out their closets by bringing any gently used handbags or purses to auction off at their upcoming POWER of the Purse event to help benefit SRJC students in need.

The event will take place in the Bertolini Student Center at the Santa Rosa campus on Thursday, Feb. 6, from 5-7 p.m.  The campus is located at 1501 Mendocino Ave.

In addition to the silent auction, POWER of the Purse will also entail an evening of hors d’oeuvres, cocktails and a special guest presentation from Rotary International leader Maureen Merrill.

Merrill, a supporter of the SRJC Foundation, works to inspire current and future leaders through her work in communications consulting and longtime volunteer roles in civic and service organizations.

POWER of the Purse recognizes the influential force of women philanthropists who give, advocate and volunteer to impact the lives of others.

Therefore, SRJC’s Women in Philanthropy is currently requesting donations of any gently used, high quality purses to auction off for POWER of the Purse.

Contact Sarah Laggos to arrange a purse pick-up, or simply drop off your purse in the foundation offices located at 1990 Armory Dr. at the Santa Rosa campus. Donations are tax deductible.

Tickets for POWER of the Purse will be $40 and are available to purchase online at
