ix seniors from Rancho Cotate High School’s football team were given another opportunity to play football when they were invited to take part in the first Tri-County High School All-Star game held Dec. 28 at Cougar Stadium in Rohnert Park. The players in the game represented Sonoma, Marin and Napa counties. The seniors were, from left, Steven De Souza, Danny Ngo, Hector Hernandez, Tanoa Peleti and Malik Newton. Josh Belda, not pictured, also was invited to play but suffered a wrist injury and was unable to take the field. The Cougars played for the Blue team, which suffered a 14-7 defeat at the hands of the White team. The game was played in hopes to bring awareness to the more than 500,000 kids in the foster care system. Ed Conroy, back row far right, coached the Blue squad.
