All branches of Sonoma County Library will close on Dec. 31, at 2 p.m., for the New Year’s holiday. The library will remain closed through Wednesday, Jan. 1, reopening Thursday at 10 a.m.


Adult programs

Meet Jonah Raskin, local author of “Burning Down the House: Jack London and the 1913 Wolf House Fire,” on Saturday, Jan. 11 at 2 p.m.  Playing detective and gathering clues from London's books and letters, arson experts and Wolf House itself, Raskin puts together the pieces of a jigsaw puzzle that has eluded biographers and historians for more than 100 years.


• Our book discussion group meets next on Tuesday, Jan. 21, discussing “The Cat’s Table” by Michael Ondaatje. Copies of the book are available at the library information desk. 


Basic library Internet

Learn to use the library catalog and databases on Tuesday, Dec. 31, from 10-11 a.m. Sign up in advance, as space is limited to four people. You can sign up in person at the reference/information desk or call 584-9121 ext. 0920.


Children’s programs

Morning Story times: Babytime Story times for children ages 0-17 months are on Thursdays at 10 a.m., beginning Jan. 9. Wiggle Time Story times for toddlers ages 18-35 months are on Thursdays at 11 a.m., beginning Jan. 9, and Preschool Story time for children ages 3-5 are on Fridays at 10:30 a.m., beginning Jan. 10. 


Lego Club

Lego Club for ages 6-12 is on Tuesday, Jan. 7, at 4 p.m. All Legos are provided.


Pam Brown Saturday Story time

The next Saturday story time for ages 2-6 with stories and a craft will be on Jan. 11 at 11 a.m. This program is all about “Pirate Treasure!” 


Fratello Marionettes

Fratello Marionettes will present “The North Pole Review” show on Friday, Jan. 3 at 11 a.m. All ages are welcome.


Read to a Dog

The Read to a Dog reading program takes place each Wednesday from 3:30-4:30 p.m., and each Saturday from 2-3 p.m. Come sign up that afternoon to read to an appreciative dog.
