All branches of Sonoma County Library will close at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 24, for the Christmas holiday. 

The library will remain closed through Wednesday, Dec. 25, reopening Thursday at 10 a.m.

Advisory board meeting

The bimonthly meeting of the Library Advisory Board is scheduled for Tuesday, Dec. 17, at 4 p.m. in the library conference room. The public is welcome to attend this meeting; the opportunity to address the Board with comments on matters affecting public library service is included in the meeting’s agenda.

Adult programs

Our book discussion group meets next on Tuesday, Jan. 21, discussing “The Cat’s Table” by Michael Ondaatje. Copies of the book are available at the library information desk. 

Basic library Internet

Learn to use the library catalog and databases on Tuesday, Dec. 31, from 10-11 a.m. Sign up in advance, as space is limited to four people. You can sign up in person at the reference/information desk or call 584-9121 ext. 0920.

Children’s programs

Morning Storytimes: Babytime Storytimes for children ages 0-17 months are on Thursdays at 10 a.m. through Dec. 19. Wiggle Time Storytimes for toddlers ages 18-35 months are on Thursdays at 11 a.m. through Dec. 19. Preschool Storytime for children ages 3-5 are on Fridays at 10:30 a.m. through Dec. 20.

Pam Brown Saturday Storytime

The next Saturday storytime for ages 2-6 with stories and a craft will be on Dec. 14 at 11 a.m. This program is all about “Penguins on Parade.” 

Elephant and Piggie Show

Local actors will present shows based on the children’s books by Mo Willems. Tuesday, Dec. 17 at 4 p.m.

Once Upon a Gingerbread House

This is for children 4 and up. Children can make their own special gingerbread house creations on Saturday, Dec. 21 from 10-11:30 a.m. All materials are provided.

Fratello Marionettes

Fratello Marionettes will present “The North Pole Review” show on Friday, Jan. 3 at 11 a.m. All ages are welcome.

Read to a dog

The Read to a Dog reading program takes place each Wednesday from 3:30-4:30 p.m.  and each Saturday from 2-3 p.m. Come sign up that afternoon to read to an appreciative dog. 

Teens only

Brian Kolm will teach a Cartooning Workshop for ages 12-18 on Friday, Dec. 13 at 3:30 p.m. Teens must call or come  in to pre-register for the workshop.
