Cotati Mayor Mark Landman will host his third and final “Evening With the Mayor” on Monday, Nov. 18 from 7-8:30 p.m. at the Redwood Café in Cotati.

The first two events hosted by Landman were well received and drew sizable audiences. The first, held at the Redwood Café on April 22, was a solo act for Landman as he took several questions from the audience. The Sept. 3 meeting was a joint effort with California Fifth Congressional District Rep. Mike Thompson, D, St. Helena, held in the Cotati Room.

“We'll have an overview of the year, review what was accomplished and the tasks that remain as we move to the next year,” Landman said. “It's a good opportunity to consider where we want to go as a community, and what might be the best ways to get there.”

These informal settings are useful, Landman said, because it gives those who may not attend city council meetings the chance to express what’s on their minds in a relaxed atmosphere.

Anyone who has ever attended a Cotati City Council meeting knows they are nothing short of contentious.

The reason this will be Landman’s final “Evening With the Mayor,” at least for a while, is because Cotati names a new mayor each year. It is uncertain whether next year’s mayor – be it Councilwomen Susan Harvey or Wendy Skillman, Vice-Mayor John Dell’Osso or Councilman John Moore – will continue with such informal meetings, but they should note how successful and popular these forums have been.
