Piranha swimmers shine at Marin meet

Aric Lang, David Luo, Kenneth Shinn and Cayla Whetstone had significant accomplishments while representing Rohnert Park Piranha Swimming at the Marin Pirates Short Course Senior II meet held at Indian Valley College on Oct. 5-6.

 Lang had a new personal best time and met the Junior Olympics time standards in the boys 15-16 100-meter butterfly and 50 freestyle events. Lang also achieved a new best time in the boys 15-16 100 breaststroke.

Luo recorded a new best time and met the Far Western time standard in the 200 butterfly. He also achieved a new best time  in the 200 freestyle event.

Shinn had a new best time and reached the PRT time standard in the boys 13-14 200 individual medley as well as having new best times in the boys 13-14 100 backstroke and 200 butterfly events.

Whetstone was one of only three 11-year-olds to reach time standards required to participate in this meet. Whetstone achieved new best times in the girls 11-12 50 and 100 freestyle races and in the girls 11-12 100 breaststroke, where she was also a heat winner. Whetstone also achieved a new best time and achieved the Junior Olympics time standard in the 200 breaststroke event.

The Piranhas, on Nov. 9-10, host swimmers from all over California in a long-distance meet at Honeybee Pool in Rohnert Park.
