|RP seeks repeat of successful Founders Day
By Mira Brody
Saturday, Sept. 21, Rohnert Park will celebrate its 51st birthday with an array of activities, including the Founder’s Day Parade, which drew in close to 50,000 people last year. The morning begins at 8 a.m. with the Running With the Pack 5K Fun Run and Walk, which supports the Special Olympics.
The run is then followed by the parade at 10 a.m. starting at Lawrence E. Jones Middle School and ending at Rancho Cotate High School. The theme is “Your Favorite Storybook” and will feature live music, decorative floats, equestrians and the high school homecoming candidates. After the parade, join the city at 11a.m. at the Community Center for food, beer, arts and crafts, music, games and a talent show.
Festivities will include the Lucky Legs Contest, bed races and the Show & Shine car show. The city encourages residents to bring the whole family down to celebrate the founding of the city and make this year’s parade and festivities as successful as last year.
