|Boateng named initial RC athlete of the week
The first athlete of the week for the school year 2013-2014 at Rancho Cotate High School
is Roy Boateng, who plays on the boys’ varsity soccer team. Athletic director Henri Sarlatte chooses after going to various sport events and consults coaches to choose athletes who had an outstanding week in athletic competition.
Roy moved to the United States from Ghana when he was 8 years old and dedicated himself to playing soccer right away. He plans on attending UC Davis after high school. He was MVP of a soccer camp this past summer at Davis. Roy’s favorite subject is English and his favorite word is goal. His least favorite word is losing. The sound or noise he loves is the crowd cheering at a game and the sound or noise he hates is fingernails scratching the chalkboard.
Roy says he’d like to be a pharmacist in the future. His favorite movie is “Rush Hour,” and his favorite television show is “Naruto,” an animated show on the Cartoon Network. His favorite singer is Drake.
For being named athlete of the week, Roy gets one week at 24 Hour Fitness in Rohnert Park, two free rentals at Blockbuster in Rohnert Park and a meal at Chipotle in Rohnert Park.
