|Mutts to strut stuff on Sept. 28 in RP
Canines of every breed, shape, size and color plus their human companions have an opportunity to help the Rohnert Park Animal Shelter by taking part in the annual “Mutt Strut” on Saturday, Sept. 28 at the Rohnert Park Community Center.
The day will include an easy one-mile walk followed by contests, canine demonstrations, pet-related merchant booths and food vendors.
Pre-registration for walkers will be open until Sept. 26. Now is the ideal time for participants to register and start collecting pledges. Come together with hundreds of other shelter supporters, both with and without canines, to raise funds for the shelter’s life-saving programs.
There are prizes for the top fundraisers in several categories plus the first 150 walkers who register with a minimum of $50 will receive a goodie bag, an event T-shirt and a bandana for their dog. Those who raise more in pledges can earn more prizes. The top team will earn a private party at the shelter dog park with food and drink provided, and the top individual earner will win the right for their dog to be next year's "Spokespup" for the Mutt Strut, with their pet's name and picture on all our printed materials.
Registration is easy, and by doing it online participants will get a free web page to personalize in order to solicit support from friends, family and co-workers. Go to the Animal Shelter League’s website at animalshelterleaguerp.org/muttstrut and click on the ‘register now’ button. Paper registration forms are available at the shelter for those who prefer that method. Either way, start now to have a chance at great prizes and to raise money for the animals. The fundraising goal for this event is $20,000.
Dog lovers will see well-trained canines in action with Cotati Officer Kaupe and Koda doing a police K9 demonstration, County Wide Dog Training Club demonstrating Rally and Bergin University showing off their Assistance dogs.
