Welcome back to a special edition of Point of the Week, for your baby or small child! This point, known to acupuncturists as Liver 3, is located on top of your child's foot, between the first and second toes.  It is excellent for reducing pain and stress, especially joint pain from an injury (such as taking a fall while learning to walk, which can happen fairly often with toddlers). Many kids with agitated crying, or pain from a fall can benefit from this point. Pressing this point increases circulation within the energy pathways and can also be used preventively upon awakening each morning to avoid developing the symptoms.

Note: Remember these vignettes are not medical advice.

Step one: Locate the point Liver 3 on the top of your child's foot, about half an inch below and between the webbing of the first and second toes. The correct point will likely feel a little tender when using a firm touch, but remember to be extra gentle the younger they are.

Step two: Using your thumb or index finger, press and hold the pressure for 10 seconds. Repeat several times per hour, or until symptoms lessen.
