|Form your pack now for the Mutt Strut
Grab your friends and co-workers and form a “pack” of your own to participate in the fourth annual Mutt Strut Dog Walk and Pet Fair happening on Sept. 28. Now is the time to register your “pack” and start getting pledges so that you can win great prizes and show your support of the Rohnert Park Animal Shelter.
The Mutt Strut is hosted by the Animal Shelter League of Rohnert Park (ASL) as the main fundraiser for the Rohnert Park Animal Shelter. The goal is to raise enough money to purchase an adoption outreach van in addition to continuing the level of support currently given the shelter annually. So, get your family and friends to join your pack, pick a fun name and start putting together your theme and sponsors. The pack that raises the most money will be treated to a special dog party at the Shelter Dog Park. In addition, each participant can win various gifts depending on how much they collect in sponsorships.
The Mutt Strut is an easy, 1-mile loop around the creek behind the Community Center, so everyone can participate. All kid friendly dogs are encouraged to come out and join the fun. The day will include amazing K9 demonstrations, pet oriented vendors, delicious food, fabulous raffle prizes, fun contests and kid’s activities. We also invite all our adoption alumni to come for an “alumni parade” and to show off their new families. The event runs from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. and entrance to the Pet Fair is free, but all dogs participating in the walk need to register for just $10 (includes an event bandana). In addition, the first 150 participants who raise a minimum of $50 will get an event T-shirt and a goodie bag full of coupons and samples. Prizes go up from there, with the top fundraiser’s dog winning the opportunity to become next year’s “spokes-dog” with his or her photo used on all our publicity materials and the cover of next year’s calendar.
To register for the event, go to the ASL’s website (animalshelterleaguerp.org) and click on the Mutt Strut button. When you register online you have the ability to create your own fundraising page and solicit sponsors – it’s easy to share with your friends via Facebook. Paper forms are also available online and at the shelter. This is the fourth year we are holding this event and it keeps growing and getting more fun, so you won’t want to miss it. It’s just seven weeks away, so don’t waste any time – get your pledge sheet going today and help fundraise for the animals in our community!
• Bunny Day – Second Saturday of each month (next one is Aug 10), 1-5:30 p.m. at the shelter.
