Welcome back to a special edition of Point of the Week, for your baby or small child. This point, known to acupuncturists as Triple Burner 5, is located on the back of the child's wrist, in the middle of the wrist about one inch down from the prominent crease.  It is excellent for cooling heat and reducing pain. Many kids with fever, agitation, pain of the joints or face can benefit from this point. Pressing this point increases circulation within the energy pathways and can also be used preventively upon awakening each morning to avoid developing the symptoms.

Note: Remember these vignettes are not medical advice.

Step one:  Locate the point Triple Burner 5 on your child's wrist. The correct point will likely feel a little tender to her or him when using a firm touch, but remember to be extra gentle the younger the child is.
Step two: Using your thumb or index finger, press and hold the pressure for 10 seconds. Repeat several times per hour, or until symptoms lessen.
