Pasta feed planned July 20 for 4-year-old suffering from ALL

A benefit pasta feed will be held on Saturday, July 20, at the Cotati Lions Club as a fundraiser for 4-year-old Jayden Zentner, who has been diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) with lymphomatous features.

Jayden is a happy, handsome boy whose world changed in a matter of weeks. He was experiencing severe back pain for more than six weeks and was brought to Kaiser San Francisco for an MRI on May 16.

“We got a call that he needed to be transferred to Kaiser Oakland as soon as possible as they found some tumors in his spine and pelvis and we needed to do more testing,” his mother, Melissa Zentner said.

After CT scans, MRIs and several blood tests, it was discovered he was suffering from ALL. He has cancer in his blood stream and has three tumors on his spine. One of the tumors has grown into his spine, fracturing the vertebrae, so he has to wear a back brace at all times.

“We are hoping that the chemo will quickly shrink this tumor, so the pain subsides,” Melissa said. “He will have to wear a back brace to protect his spine as the tumor shrinks leaving a gap in his bone. He will need to wear this brace until his bone grows back. We are hoping that with the advanced oncology treatments and amazing oncology team he can get through this.”

The benefit will be held from 4-8 p.m. There will be a spaghetti dinner, a raffle, a silent auction (prizes include a Napa getaway and wine packages) and live entertainment by world-famous belly dancer Ziva Emtiyaz.

Tickets are $20 for adults and $8 for children. All proceeds will go to help the family offset medical costs. Cancer survivors will be admitted free. The Cotati Lions Club is located in the Cotati Scout Hut at 86 La Plaza across the lot from the Rancho Adobe Fire Dept.
