Friends of the Library hosted a 10th anniversary celebration of the Rohnert Park-Cotati Public Library June 12, and the Forum Room just inside the front entrance was jammed with celebrants in an SRO audience.

A star-studded crowd of well-known RP citizens, a good portion of them  involved in helping to create the new library, sipped classic wines from Owl Ridge Winery Services of Sebastopol amid a background of lively conversation and music from a quartet of musicians led by recordist Ellen Johnsen.

The Armando Flores room was graced with the presence of former mayor Flores and his wife, Liz, down from their home in a Sacramento suburb. They shared the spotlight with Lynne Conde, RN, credited with organizing the team that got the library built, and Rohnert Park co-founder Maurice Fredericks and his wife Betty.

All four had major roles in the library’s beginnings (see page 3 of June 14 issue of The Voice for details).

Also present were Olwen Petersen, one of the founders of Friends of the Library, former RP city manager Joe Netter, former mayors Vern Smith, Tim Smith and Jake Mackenzie, plus a scattering of current city council members from both cities and current library branch manager, Nancy Kleban.
