Habitat for Humanity of Sonoma County is opening a selection process for families to purchase newly built homes in Cotati.

Potential families must meet certain criteria, including specific income levels, a need for adequate shelter, and the resources to meet minimum income guidelines.

In addition, the family must sign a partnership agreement with Habitat for Humanity of Sonoma County, which includes a commitment to 500 hours of sweat equity.  Those who fulfill those conditions will meet with a Habitat family selection committee as well.

Families interested in applying are invited to attend an informational evening, Wednesday, May 22, at 6 p.m. at the Cotati Room, 216 East School Street (next to the Cotati Police Department).

Habitat for Humanity of Sonoma County is a non-profit faith based organization financed through private donations, grants and government programs and utilizes volunteer labor.  Its purpose is to build homes for families in need.

To date Habitat has built 14 homes in Sonoma County, four in Sebastopol, eight in Santa Rosa, two in Healdsburg and renovated many homes in Santa Rosa.
