This point, known to acupuncturists as Bladder 15, is located on the back an inch and a half from the spine, at the lower border of the fifth thoracic vertebra.  Like all points along the Bladder Meridian, it generally treats urinary conditions and pain of the neck and back. This point in particular is excellent for non-cardiac chest pain, as it strengthens and calms the Heart Meridian.  It also can treat inability to catch one's breath, and emotional factors such as anxiety, mania or depression. In Acupuncture theory, emotional stress is caused by a stagnation within the Meridians (pathways circulating energy and nourishment throughout the body). The function of this point is to clear heat and stagnation from the Heart Meridian and Liver Meridian, thus soothing worry.
