|SCAC to host ‘Chihuahua de Mayo’
The Sonoma County Animal Care and Control, from April 30-May 4, celebrates the charms of Chihuahuas during Chihuahua de Mayo.
The shelter will run a Chihuahua adoption special all week. Then, on Saturday, May 4, the shelter will team up Compassion Without Borders to host a Chihuahua event in Roseland, featuring an array of free services.
Chihuahuas are energetic, friendly and highly trainable dogs that love attention.
They tend to be affectionate and make great family pets. In fact, many Chihuahuas are excellent with children.
Sonoma County Animal Shelter is offering all Chihuahua and Chihuahua mixes for $25, plus dog license if applicable, during this weeklong event.
There will be behavior experts on site to answer any questions and to help potential owners find the perfect Chihuahua.
Chihuahua de Mayo culminates with a Chihuahua Celebration in the Dollar Tree parking lot at 777 Sebastopol Road, Santa Rosa.
Sonoma County Animal Care and Control’s “love me fix me” mobile spay/neuter clinic will be on site to provide free surgeries and microchips to pets with appointments.
Call 565-7100 or (800) 427-7973) for an appointment. The Shelter will also bring adoptable Chihuahuas to the celebration.
In addition, the nonprofit organization Compassion without Borders will host a free wellness clinic to provide veterinary examinations, vaccinations, deworming, flea and tick prevention, and other basic care.
