|RC baseball, softball teams log victories
Rancho Cotate High School's baseball team rebounded from Wednesday's tough loss to Casa Grande by scoring runs in the fifth, sixth and seventh innings to overtake host Santa Rosa High on Friday afternoon.
Noah Rogerson was the winning pitcher for Rancho Cotate, and Anthony Sosa led the offense with a 2-for-4 performance at the plate.
The victory improves the Cougars to 9-7 overall and 4-2 in the North Bay League. Rancho Cotate plays its first home game in more than a month on Tuesday when it hosts Windsor. The game starts at 4 p.m.

The girls' softball team maintained an unblemished record in the NBL by knocking off the Gauchos on Thursday, April 11.
Freshman Vickie Espinoza powered the Cougars' offense with five RBI on 2-for-3 hitting, including a home run. Sophomore Kazja Fa'agata Averbuck drove in the other two runs for the Cougars, as she was 2-for-4 at the plate with a double.
Keilani Fronda, Amanda Navarro and Kristine Ricossa each scored twice for the Cougars. Ricossa also was 2-for-4 at the plate.
The Cougars (4-0 in NBL and 7-4 overall) on Tuesday begin a stretch where they'll play four games in five days, beginning with a road game at Santa Rosa High at 4 p.m.
